Tyler Perry Says He's Pissed
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qD5Yf8kn3Wk]
If you remember, back in May I posted how Spike Lee made a comment about Tyler Perry claiming that his movies were taking African Americans a “step back“. Lee didn’t like how Tyler Perry portrayed black people as if they were ignorant.
“Each artist should be allowed to pursue their artistic endeavors, but I still think there is a lot of stuff out today that is coonery and buffoonery. I know it’s making a lot of money and breaking records, but we can do better. … I am a huge basketball fan, and when I watch the games on TNT, I see these two ads for these two shows (Tyler Perry’s “Meet the Browns” and “House of Payne”), and I am scratching my head. We got a black president, and we going back to Mantan Moreland and Sleep ‘n’ Eat? click HERE for more.
Well months later black film directors are still voicing their opinions about Tyler Perry and Tyler says he’s pissed off about it. In my opinion I like Tyler Perry movies. I’ve watched them and followed Madea even before the movies… when they were just gospel plays. Tyler’s movies are not what they says coonery and buffoonery… but he brings in comedy to display the real message behind the movie such as Love, Family, and God. It’s weird to say, he has to do it that way (as he says in the 60 minutes clip “bait“), but if you minus the Madea and the Meet the Browns.. would you still go see the movie?
